Am I entitled to see a copy of a will?

I think my step-son may be a beneficiary of his father’s will but I am not on good terms with his step-mother – can I force the executors to show me the will?

The answer is no, though once probate has been granted the will is a ‘public’ document and so you can apply directly to the probate registry to obtain a copy of the will.

If you’re not sure when probate will be granted you can set up a standing search which will let you know when the documents become public.

A link to the government website can be found in this old post from the Probaters blog.
